Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at a trial?

Trials are Monday–Thursday at our Bondi studio and take approximately 1.5 hours.

Come with your makeup on so we can get an idea of your style; we will completely cleanse your face and start the skin prep with GLOW UP. Last thing… take a deep breath! This is the fun part; with years of experience, my team and I will create your vision. Trials are about enhancing your natural beauty whilst encouraging you to embrace you. Each element of our makeup is designed to complement you

Can I have my Bridal Trial if I have an event on?

Bridal Make up trials are preliminary run-throughs for your Bridal beauty look. Similar to dress rehearsals, they serve to test out and refine your look, so there aren't any snags on the big day. This is very different to having make up for an event you are attending. The Bridal make up will be tailored made for your look for your wedding day, we also consult and run through any looks, trials take approximately  1.5 hrs. Event make up takes 45 mins and is designed for that event in mind. If you have an event coming up, you can book with Sascha directly and secure your wedding date, once you are happy . This will give you peace of mind, whilst getting your make up done for your event as you can see how we work. You can then book your Bridal Make up Trial closer to your wedding date.

Top Tip: If you are planning on having a tan on the day of the wedding, it’s the perfect time to have your tan trial on the same day as your makeup trial. This way, we can make sure it all looks seamless. It’s also best to not have any tan applied to your face as this can make the skin uneven and pores dark. Wearing a white T-shirt also helps with colouring and reflecting light.

I’m a bit nervous about booking right away. Can I book my trial and pay the deposit later?

It’s totally normal to be nervous. Having a clear understanding of what we do here at GB and the standard of our work, we often have wedding dates secured before the trials.

We do, however, love to give peace of mind, so you have that time to secure the date after your trial. If, however, we do get a wedding wanting to secure the date without a trial, we have to give preference to them. Due to high demand, we are unable to reserve your date without the deposit. We often have 3-5 inquiries per wedding date during the high season.

How will the hair & makeup schedule go on the day of the wedding?

Once our enquiry form is filled out, this will give us an idea of timelines as the questions are quite specific and account for such things as when the photographer will arrive, when you will leave for the ceremony, etc. This info will help create a timeline for hair and makeup so everything is seamless.

How long will hair and makeup take on the wedding day?

For brides, we recommend an hour for makeup, and for anyone else, 30 to 40 minutes. We thrive on perfect application and efficiency, and our experience working on many fashion weeks gives us that extra edge.

Hair times will be given specifically from Jade or your chosen hair stylist but in our experience, you’re looking at approximately 2 hours for hair and makeup, with hair depending on style and length.

After your bridal trial, we'll be able to send you a personalised timetable for you to distribute to your bridal party so there will be no last-minute rushing on your wedding day.

We can’t wait to glam all our GLOW UP BABES

Can you recommend a hairstylist?

We work very closely with Jade Clifton, our go-to hairstylist and hands-down one of the best in the biz. We will include Jades contact details in your email, giving you option to contact Jade for all your hair needs. This gives you a great opportunity to have your hair and makeup trials on the same day, schedules permitting.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we requires a deposit of $500 and a

E-signed contract to hold your wedding date. This is due only after your trial when you’re completely happy, and it is then put towards your total invoice. Alternatively a lot of our Brides prefer to secure the date straight away to give them peace of mind, knowing that they want GLOW UP Brides. Deposits are refundable only if notified within 24hrs of payment. The booking fee of $100 is non refundable.

How far do you travel?

As far as you need us!

We cover Sydney, Byron and Destination Weddings.

SYDNEY

Travel under or over an hour is $100 ph from postcode 2022.

We often will come up the night before if the drive is more than 4 hours and there’s an early start; in this case, the accommodation will need to be allocated. For us, it’s peace of mind for getting to our brides on time.

Byron and Destination Weddings, please email Jess on info@glowup-brides.com

How soon in advance should I book my makeup services?

The sooner the better as dates do get booked up quickly. We will only take bookings one year in advance, as this gives more opportunities for brides to not miss out on dates.

Will my makeup last all day and night?

After 180 weddings a year for the last 10 years, we have got it down to an art. At GB, skin is everything, your skin will not only be enhanced but set in a way that we like to call our SKIN FINISH. It’s flawless yet lightweight with a GLOW from within; it’s the art of the Bridal-not-Bridal look.
